Ski Banquet Information
Welcome to the 31th edition
of the Wisconsin High School Nordic Championships. On behalf
of the organizing committee, the Lakeland Nordic Ski Team,
Winter Park, and our many supporting sponsors we want you to
enjoy the most exciting race experience of the year. As you
participate, spectate, and relate to the high school ski
community please enjoy the unique blend of athleticism, the
enjoyment of our winter, and the connectivity of the
competitive spirit that makes our sport strong and growing.
From 22 athletes in 1982 to last years' 439 we continue to
show Wisconsin that cross country skiing has a place at the
athletic table and will be a viable program into the future.
Thanks for your support.
There are some new changes to the single day pursuit format
this year. Most importantly, the techniques have been
changed where the skiers will have an individual start using
the freestyle technique in the morning and then a classical
pursuit start in the afternoon. This change will provide for
new challenges as coaches become wax gurus to make the most
of skier talent.
As you cheer on all the skiers realize that we have programs
that have been existence since the inception of the sport in
Wisconsin and others that just got started this year. We
have clubs, varsity programs, coop programs, and individuals
coming from ski family backgrounds as well as those coached
by independent contract program coaches. With wide smiles,
glad hearts, and open arms, we of the Lakeland Club say
welcome to all, and let the fun begin.

have interval start with a skier leaving every 15 seconds.
It's followed in the afternoon with the Classic race where
the start order is determined by the finish order of the
morning race. The first skier across the line will be the
overall champion for the two-race event.
Practice Day: The course will be open
for practice and course inspection on Friday, February 10.
Competitors will be allowed to ski with the trail pass
included in the race fee.
Registration: Coaches will need to submit
their rosters by February 1. They may be submitted to
John Burke at
john@performancetiming.com. Skiers who are not a
member of a team should also submit their skier information
to the same address. Both teams and individuals can
submit their entry information on the spreadsheet that is
